Neighborhood Animals

World Animals, previously titled as Baby Dolittle: World Animals before its late-2002 rerelease, and also commonly known as just Baby Einstein: World Animals after its mid-2003 rerelease, is the 7th Baby Einstein video in the series to be released and the 7th video to be made by Julie Aigner-Clark. It showcases 9 animals in 3 different habitats. The featured habitats are the jungle, the ocean, and the savanna. The 9 animals are the tiger, tropical bird, monkey, sea turtle, dolphin, fish, elephant, giraffe and lion. Completed in January 7, 2001, it was released on May 15, 2001. It was later reissued twice during the Disney Merger Era, once on February 26, 2002 in which edited out the "Thank You" credit, and again on October 22, 2002 (the same day Baby Beethoven was released) which was retitled as Baby Einstein: World Animals, and had the opening and closing credits style that would be used on all original videos in the Bronze Age, again in that era on August 05, 2003 (the same day Baby Galileo was released), and later sold as just World Animals in the Disney releases. It was later remade sometime in 2004, with some alterations. This episode is after Baby Dolittle: Neighborhood Animals and before Baby Newton.

Trivia[]

  • This is the second animal themed episode.
  • The video can be considered a sequel (or companion) to Neighborhood Animals.
  • This is the first appearance of Roary the Lion and Wanda the Fish.
  • This is the only appearance of Baby Mozart The Yellow Bear, Georgia The Giraffe, and Fox in Legends & Lore form (footage of them was later reused in Wild Animal Safari).
  • This is Markie Scholz's last video as puppeteer (footage later reused in Discovery Kits)
  • This is the only appearance of Hunter and Jake (footage of them was later reused in Wild Animal Safari).
  • Wild Animal Safari was based off of this video and Baby Noah.
  • This is the last appearance of Akiala.
  • This is the last video to feature only Legends and Lore puppets.
    • This is the last video to feature the said above until Baby Galileo.
  • This is the final pre-Disney video. because usually FHE Kids videos are referred to as Pre-Disney videos.
  • This is the last video to be distributed by Family Home Entertainment before the acquisition of the Baby Einstein Company by Disney in late 2001.
  • World Animals was going to have a forest section with Squirrel, Fox, and Bear, but it was removed because the video may have been too long and Julie stated that the animals may have been hard to see on a forest background.
    • However, the 2010 Wild Animal Safari did contain the forest section, which had Bear, Deer, and Otter (the latter from Neighborhood Animals).
  • The 2001-2002 DVD Concert Hall has music from the World Animals Soundtrack CD.
  • Also on top of that, the World Animals Soundtrack CD is enclosed on the 2001 - 2002 VHS, except on the Late 2002 VHS, which comes with the World Animals Audio Sampler CD that has the same music as the Neighborhood Animals Audio Sampler CD. However, some copies of the Late 2002 VHS come with the World Animals Soundtrack CD.
  • This is the second video having Dan Willis in the Baby Einstein Music Box Orchestra, the first being Neighborhood Animals, despite him not being credited before the 2004 re-release.
  • This is the first video to have classical music by Smetana, Mendelssohn, & Grieg.
  • This is the only video to have classical music by Dvořak.
  • This is the first video to have a song by Jack Moss.
  • The G. G. Giraffe appeared in Baby Bach, the Mr. Monkey appeared in Baby Shakespeare, and the Giraffe Cone Puppet and Jack-in-the-Box appeared in Baby Van Gogh.
  • This video is the first video without Sierra Clark.
  • In the videos toy chest there is a picture of Jane in a green backdrop with the light switch it is possible that it was a scene for the forest scenes.
  • There is evidence of this and Neighborhood Animals being filmed at the same time. Akiala Nanyamka, who is shown singing in Neighborhood Animals and wearing a tiger hat in World Animals, is wearing the same clothes in both scenes.
  • This is the first video to have a puppet show after the credits.

Goofs[]

  • If you look closely at Jane when she pulls the string to reveal the picture of the jungle, you can see her puppeteer's head pop up for a brief second.
  • The page transition from the "monkey" illustration to the "tropical bird" illustration is blue, and the transition from the clip of Akiala wearing Year of the Tiger Hat to the "tropical bird" illustration is yellow. The reason for this is unknown.
  • During the Banana Split puppet show with Jane and Murray, you can briefly see Mark Burr's shirt in the top left corner. In the 2004 release it is unedited out and visible the full time.
  • In the 2004 release during the Deep Blue Sea scene, there a minor glimpse of the original release's page peel transition during the first verse of the song after the sea turtle picture.
  • Also in the 2004 release, at the end of the savanna puppet show, Jared Picune (the editor for the 2004 re-releases) forgot to freeze frame the clip, resulting in viewers seeing Georgia Giraffe return to starting position in a fast swoop.
  • In the French and Spanish late-2004 versions, the title card is cropped. But on English, it's normal.
